Årsta Swans awards night & annual poker tournament

On October 22 the Årsta Swans had their annual awards night combined with the annual poker night.
12 of us met up at the Kvarnström recidence in Södertälje for some good food, plenty of drinks and awesome company.
After mingle and dinner the awards part of the evening commenced. Led by coach Robert Young the awards categories were presented and trophees were handed out.
The categories and the winners were as follows:

Leading goal kicker: Chris Murr
Most improved player: Josh Feron
Coaches award: Wilhelm Fischerström
The Peter “Hammer” Hammarström award, for team efforts on and off the field: Patrik Beijer
Club champion (based on votes by peers): Robert Young

After the awards were held the poker games took place. You could tell that everybody had their mind set on winning the tournament, as is was a very cautious group at first.
The bets started to get a bit daring as time went on and after approx. 3 hours we were down to the head-to-head between Glenn McLoud and Fredrik Grinell.
At the end of the night Glenn stod as victor and took home a big wad of cash.
Congrats Glenn!

The 2016 season might be over but the preseason for 2017 is not far away. If you want to have a kick and try footy, contact us here or through our facebook channels.
Before you know it we will be having a ball up at the Skarpnäck oval and a new season will be upon us.

Last game before the finals

Tomorrow, September 10th, the last games before the finals will be played at Skarpnäcks sportfält.
It is, as usual, a doubleheader starting of at noon, and we will face Bromma Vikings. After our game it will be a showdown of epic proportions when Solna Axemen take on the Södermalm Blues.

This will be a awesome day for footy. Even SMHI sais it will be 23 degrees Celsius and Clear skies.

So come down, watch the games and meet some nice people.
The BBQ will fire up during the second game and there will be burgers, chocolate bars, sodas and beer available.
Make sure to support the teams by purchasing their Stubby holders.

See you at the grounds!!

New year, new season coming up, are you pumped?

2016 is here! Pre-season has started hosted by our brothers in Södermalm Blues.
The Australia Day party is on Saturday and the AGM is coming up in a few days.
Things are in motion and we are pumped to see what this season will bring.

2015 was a good year for the Swans. We finished third on the ladder after being defeated by the Axemen in the semifinals. Axemen was, in turn, defeated by Södermalm Blues who stood as victors of the SAFF league in early October.

So, we are pumped to get things started and we hope you are too!

Are you interested in joining us to make 2016 even greater?
Have you had the idea that footy would be a cool thing to try out?
Well, it is time to put that idea into action, my friend!
Anyone and everyone are welcome, regardless of age or prior experience.
Get in contact with us!

If you want to meet us in person first, then the Australia Day party we have on Saturday is the perfect occasion. We will host an event together with the Stockholm Netball club at the pub Big Ben on Folkungagatan 97. The party starts at 16.30 and will cost you 120 SEK at the door, but that will gain you access to some mighty fine company, drinks, raffles and unexpected shenanigans. So come on down!

What: Australia Day Party
Where: Folkungagatan 97, Stockholm, Sweden
When: Saturday January 30, 2016,  4:30PM

End of home and away season – time for semifinal

We have now reached the end of the home and away season.
It has been a great season for the Swans, full of good games, surprizes, unfortunately some bumps and bruises, but – at the same time – players rising above showing that they are capable of great things.
This has landed us third in the ladder and that means that we will play the semi final against the second team on the ladder – our brothers in Solna Axemen.

It was quite sometime ago that Årsta got to play a semifinal in the SAFF, so we are very proud of this opportunity.
The game will take place at Skarpnäcks sportfält on Saturday, Sept 12, 2015
at noon.

Take part in this great event.
Come down and cheer for the Swans and help us play the best footy we possible can.

Welcome

Go Årsta!!!!

Start of the season training times!

It’s spring time and it’s time to get out in the fresh air and kick some footy!
To make sure we get enough people for each training session Solna has been kind enough to let us train with them at Rålambshovsparken (Wednesdays 18:30), so the first few training opportunities will be together with them.

The training sessions will allow new and old players to get a good feel of the ball and the game, so there’s no need to feel that you’re not experienced enough to attend – everyone is welcome!

Hope to see many of you on Wednesday, even though it’s short notice!
