Fixture for 2017

The fixture for 2017 has now been set and can be found here on the site.

A few things have changed this year, as you might have seen.
This year there are only four teams playing in the SAFF league; Årsta Swans, Norrtälje Dockers, Södermalm Blues and Solna Axemen.
The Bromma Vikings will be in hiatus during the 2017 season and their active players will play with the Solna Axemen.

We are also striving to play 12-a-side games as opposed to the 9-a-side game we have been playing. We are hoping that all teams will have the manpower to be able to fill a 12 + bench roster. More on this in the beginning of the season.

The SAFF has also been in contact with Stockholms Stad and the league has been promised a grandstand to be put next to the oval at Skarpnäcks sportfält. This is something we feel has been missing for a long time and we hope that this will enhance the spectators viewing experience.

The first games – a double header, will be played on May 6th.

Mark that day in your calendar and come down to the oval and kick off an awesome new season!

See you there!

One for all, All for Årsta!

The SAFF 2016 season is over – Norrtälje Dockers won the flag

A group of 9 Årsta Swans players went up to Norrtälje last weekend to battle it out in the prelim-finals against the Dockers. After a tight game, where the score was only a few points difference up until Q3, the Dockers stood as victors. It was an exciting game but Årstas steam ran out during the last quarter.

On Sept 24 the grand final was played on the JCG in Skarpnäck. Both the Norrtälje Dockers and the Södermalm Blues were pumped and ready for a good battle.

You can watch the game here: https://youtu.be/mkUrPKdRYnI

We say a heartfelt congratulations to the Norrtälje Dockers who won their first flag!!

Last game before the finals

Tomorrow, September 10th, the last games before the finals will be played at Skarpnäcks sportfält.
It is, as usual, a doubleheader starting of at noon, and we will face Bromma Vikings. After our game it will be a showdown of epic proportions when Solna Axemen take on the Södermalm Blues.

This will be a awesome day for footy. Even SMHI sais it will be 23 degrees Celsius and Clear skies.

So come down, watch the games and meet some nice people.
The BBQ will fire up during the second game and there will be burgers, chocolate bars, sodas and beer available.
Make sure to support the teams by purchasing their Stubby holders.

See you at the grounds!!

End of home and away season – time for semifinal

We have now reached the end of the home and away season.
It has been a great season for the Swans, full of good games, surprizes, unfortunately some bumps and bruises, but – at the same time – players rising above showing that they are capable of great things.
This has landed us third in the ladder and that means that we will play the semi final against the second team on the ladder – our brothers in Solna Axemen.

It was quite sometime ago that Årsta got to play a semifinal in the SAFF, so we are very proud of this opportunity.
The game will take place at Skarpnäcks sportfält on Saturday, Sept 12, 2015
at noon.

Take part in this great event.
Come down and cheer for the Swans and help us play the best footy we possible can.

Welcome

Go Årsta!!!!

The season starts with a clash of titans

On Saturday, April 25, the footy season starts at the oval in Skarpnäck, and it starts with the first round of Elitserien.
Elitserien is the brand new tournament in Sweden where four powerhouse teams will meet in six rounds to crown the national champions. The teams will play 18 players a side, as opposed to the 9-a-side version we normally play – so it will be fast, tough and exciting footy!

The schedule of the day is as follows:
Södermalm vs Port Malmö at 1pm
ANZAC ceremony at 2pm
Sthlm Dynamite vs Helsingborg at 2.35pm

The Stockholm Dynamite team consists of players from Solna Axemen, Bromma Vikings, Norrtälje Dockers and Årsta Swans, and are being coached by our very own Robert Young. Årsta will be represented by six players; Glenn, Duncan, Mattis, Jonas, Patrik and Rob.

Helsingborg Saints are one of Swedens oldest footy teams, have played in the Danish league, and is one of the most productive teams when it comes to supplying players for the Swedish national team – The Elks.
So if you want to see swedish footy at its best – this is the event you can not miss.
Come to Skarpnäckssportfält and be a part of the new era of Swedish Footy!

If you are interested in the game and would like to learn more, or even try to play it – come to the game and meet the team. There will be Swans players on the field as well as in the crowd.

Welcome!
